Marriage Licenses
The Town Clerk's office issues Marriage Licenses to those who plan to be married within the State of New York. Both parties must be present in order for a license to be issued. The documents we require are: original or certified copy of a government-issued Birth Certificate, Social Security card and a valid government-issued photo ID, i.e. Driver’s license or Passport. If this is not your first marriage, please provide certified copies of your divorce papers or death certificate of previous spouse. This documentation is needed for each previous marriage.
The cost of a license is $40. This license is valid for a period of 60 days (120 days for active military) after the initial 24-hour waiting period. The license allows you to be married anywhere in New York State.
Marriage Licenses are done by appointment only. The Town Clerk is a Marriage Officer and will perform ceremonies by appointment. Please contact our office for further details. We can be reached at 845-534-9100.
